the Bike Shed – Classifieds

The Bike Shed Motorcycle Club: from biker blog to 12,000 square foot Shoreditch venue featuring a 100 seat cafe/bar, shop, gallery and more.

In 2014, Anthony ‘Dutch’ van Someren from TheBikeShed.cc approached me with a specification for a bespoke WordPress plugin that would allow Bike Shed users to quickly and easily add their bikes to the website to be listed for sale in a new “classifieds” section. He wanted prospective customers to be able to filter the bike ads by country, city and value.

I created the Classifieds section using WordPress’ custom post types and taxonomies, setting up a bespoke admin panel in the WordPress backend to allow management of the bike ads, and allowing quick payment for bike owners via PayPal (Standard Payments).

By the time the Classifieds section was replaced in May 2015, it had processed over 400 bike ads.

Why hire Jem for your WordPress project?

I can’t recommend Jem enough. She was, and still is, a total pleasure to work with. Patient, diligent and best of all, she didn’t blind me with “technical talk” which in itself was a blessing in disguise. She was amazing whilst the site was being built and since the launch has always been on hand if I have needed her. If you are thinking of working with her, all I will say is… “DO IT!”

Jem re-designed our website for us, ensuring it is now engaging, user-friendly and fantastic-looking. Highly recommend.

We totally, totally love [our WordPress website]!

I loved working through the process of developing my website. I concentrated on the words and imagery while Jem did her magic with the technology. I get so many compliments about our website and it’s definitely helped our business to grow quicker than we could have imagined. Being a lot of a technophobe, Jem’s calm assurance is always very much appreciated. I’d really recommend her.

Why I love working with WordPress

I've been using WordPress since the heady days of version 1.0 and developing WordPress websites commercially since version 1.5 (released in 2005!)
